Annalog is a brand new Metroidvania adventure for the NES, featuring a sprawling world, mysterious lore, open-ended puzzles, and heart-pounding boss fights. Explore an unknown post-apocalyptic world, littered with abandoned machines that you can freely reprogram to do your bidding. As you uncover the history of how this high-tech civilization once fell, you'll be faced with a choice: do you bring it all back? Or destroy it forever?

Like other Metroidvania games, Annalog focuses on exploring, meeting characters, completing quests, defeating bosses, and earning upgrades. What makes Annalog unique, however, is that instead of upgrading your character (with new attacks or better jumps), you're finding new upgrades for your programs. Every machine you find in the game is freely reprogrammable, and each upgrade gives you new commands or capabilities you can use to program those machines.

"Do I need to know how to code to play this game?" Nope! Like any good logic puzzle game, the game itself will teach you what you need to know, one piece at a time, leaving it up to you to put those pieces together. Our beta testing team included both coders and non-coders (as well as both Kaizo speedrunners and more casual gamers), and all of them found it to be a fun and approachable challenge.

The open-ended nature of Annalog's puzzles gives you lots of options. If you want, you can design careful and robust programs, turning the machines you find into elevators and tools that make navigating the world easier, as you criss-cross and backtrack through the game world. Or you can just do something quick and janky, and rely on your platforming skills and timing to yolo your way through! You can always come back and improve it later, right? There's no wrong way to play.
